Starting up

1. Laptop on the plug, not on battery. Printer on, paper and ribbon in, no light flashing.
2. Camera on and plugged in, then the button.
3. Start OhSnap. Press the button once: one photo, one print.
4. Anything wrong, open the admin panel: Ctrl+Shift+A.

The keys you need

No picture from the camera

1. Wait ten seconds. The booth restarts a stopped or frozen camera by itself.
2. DSLR asleep? Wake it, turn its auto power-off off, run it from mains.
3. Push both ends of the USB and HDMI leads in, or try another port. Close anything else using the camera: Teams, OBS, the capture card’s own app.
4. Admin, Cameras: Restart camera, then pick the camera under Device.
5. Last resort: Backgrounds, pick a still. The booth keeps running without a live picture.

Nothing prints

1. Look at the printer: paper out, ribbon out, cover open, a jam.
2. Ctrl+Shift+F and look for a driver message on the desktop. Clear it.
3. Admin, Output, Printing problems: pick what went wrong, and the window hands you the queue, a test page and the printer’s own words. In the queue, untick Pause printing and Use printer offline, cancel stuck jobs.
4. Printer off and on. Admin, Output, Printing: pick the printer by name again, Print a test page.
5. The photo was still saved. Print the last photo on the same panel prints it again.

The button does nothing

1. Space on the keyboard takes a photo. If that works, it is the button or its lead.
2. Another USB port. Admin, Inputs, Devices: Last seen lists every press the app hears, and Bind next press beside Take a photo teaches it the button again.
3. A message on the waiting screen instead of the prompt means the daily photo limit was reached: Diagnostics, Venue.

Stuck, or all wrong

1. Escape. Then close the admin panel if it is open: the button is ignored while it is.
2. A frozen screen reloads by itself after 30 seconds.
3. Quit and start OhSnap again, then the laptop. Settings and photos are kept, and it needs no internet to come back.
4. Truly lost: Diagnostics, Export config, then Reset to defaults, then the Classic booth button on Output.

The event, and handing the photos over

1. Admin, Events: the card marked In use names the folder tonight’s photos land in.
2. A new job: add it, then Use this event. Give it a folder of its own if the name is long.
3. Job over: Export photos packs that event into one zip, photos only. Deleting an event never deletes a photo.

Updates at night

1. Nothing installs while a guest is at the screen: only at shut-down, or between the two hours set under Diagnostics.
2. No internet, or a damaged download: nothing happens, the booth runs on, and the panel says what it last tried.
3. Version changed overnight? One test photo and one test print before the doors open.

Where the photos are

Pictures\OhSnap\ on the laptop, a folder per event and day, unless Output names another folder. If that folder cannot be written (a USB stick pulled out), photos go to Pictures\OhSnap and the screen says so. Gallery shows today's, prints one again and opens the folder.

Tell us what happened

Diagnostics, Export diagnostics saves one zip to the Desktop: settings, log, camera and printer facts. No photos and no PIN are in it. Copy print settings for support, on Printing problems, puts the print side of it on the clipboard alone. Send either, with a photo of the bad print, to OhSnap@gamingworld.uk when you are back online.
